In the current era of globalization, many indigenous languages around the world are

facing existential threats. This is primarily due to the advancement of technology and civilization,

which brings people closer together, leading to the homogenization of languages and cultures.

Consequently, powerful and dominant languages and cultures are gradually overshadowing and

absorbing the smaller indigenous ones. Additionally, the younger generation is abandoning their

native languages and cultures in favor of more widely spoken and prevalent ones. This

existential crisis is not limited to the global stage but is also affecting various indigenous

communities in Assam. Recently, many small indigenous languages spoken in Assam have seen a

rapid decline in usage and popularity. A significant number of these languages are now

classified as endangered. Therefore, it is imperative to prioritize the preservation and revival of

these endangered languages to raise awareness and take necessary actions while there is still

time.
